Exposing 'single use' umbrellas

'Single use' is a term we have all started to become familiar with. As we are becoming more aware of the impact of single use products like plastic bags or plastic water bottles, it's a term we firmly associate with certain aspects of daily life.
Now, what if we told you that the majority of umbrellas available to buy in the UK are in fact also classified as 'single use'? It's a common term used by umbrella manufacturers, and it is what it says on the tin. The umbrellas we regularly fork out for have only been manufactured and tested for one downpour and you're done.
So how does that work? Why haven't we been told this before? And what on earth is the point in a single use umbrella?! All good questions that we've been asking ourselves in SOAKED HQ. We've boiled it down to this - as consumers, we've learned to accept that our umbrellas will break easily, be replaced quickly, and continue to repeat that cycle year after year. After all, we all need an umbrella when it's raining.
Enter SOAKED. We think it's time to start exposing single use umbrellas, and start finding solutions that work for people, and the planet.
Designed with functionality, longevity and resilience in mind, SOAKED umbrellas are setting out to break the buy replace and repeat cycle, creating umbrellas designed to face the elements, and the test of time.
